Dedicant Study: Autumn Equinox 2005

Autumnal Equinox 2005

For the Autumnal Equinox our Grove went to Crystal Lake to attend  Ravenswood Grove’s Rite and it was nice to get out of the city and into the countryside for a celebration. Not only was this my first ADF autumnal Equinox, we also celebrated the ADF Unity Rite and a Dedicant Clergy ordination with the help of our Arch Druid Skip Ellison who came down for the occasion. And if this wasn’t enough to keep us busy we also had someone taping the Rite for his post doctorate, he was doing research on why people are leaving the Christian churches for other less mainstream religions. Apparently he is studying at an evangelical university so we will have to see how that turns out. Some people were not comfortable being taped so they stayed out of the eye of the camera. (Somehow I of course managed to end up directly in front of it, not on purpose I don’t know how these things happen honest!) The Rite itself was a Nordic one and the patron Deity of the occasion was the Goddess Sif (which I kept mispronouncing Sith to the amusement of my Grovemates.)  I performed the offering to the Outsiders. The Omen was done with Tarot cards (Page of Rods, The Hanged Man, and the Devil) and all I am going to say about this is that I don’t think it’s the Seers’ job is to make everyone feel good about the Omen, her job is to interpret the Omen as it is presented to us by the Gods and that’s all I am going to say about it.

After all the  Rites we feasted on spaghetti and garlic bread before making our way back to the city.
